Our Programmes
Since 1994, trained counselors/staff at Snehi’s Crisis Intervention Centre cum Counseling Centre have been providing support, counseling, and referral services to individuals and families from different parts of India, particularly from the Delhi, and NCR areas experiencing emotional or psychological crises for any problem (marriage, family, discrimination, adjustment, domestic violence, abuse, etc.) that may be affecting their wellbeing and mental health. Individuals can call or walk into the Centre with a prior appointment during given hours and a counselor/staff is there to support and counsel or assist them in their moment of need.

Telephonic as well as face-to-face counseling services are provided at the counseling center at Snehi, which has been functional since the inception of the organization. People are free to call for telephonic counseling (helpline number: +91-9582208181) or come to the center for individual counseling sessions.
The counseling center also provides referral services for severe mental disorders.
Persons interested in availing of the counseling services can contact the center and arrange for a session by submitting Rs 100/- as a registration fee.

Hopeline (Post-exam helpline)
Every year, a 24 hours helpline is set up for about 15-20 days in the months of May and June, when the board examination and other results are declared.
The aim is to provide emotional support, career guidance, and counseling facilities through the telephonic helpline.
These services are arranged especially for students who are anxious about their results, unhappy or ashamed because of their results or are confused about the career choices they should make.
The counseling and guidance services are provided by trained counselors of the organization, with the assistance of volunteers.

Chetna
Under this program, awareness workshops are arranged with different schools and colleges in Delhi and outside Delhi with the aim of clarifying the myths and stigmas pertaining to mental disorders in our society.

Group discussions on various mental health topics are held with the school and college students in order to share facts, clear misconceptions, and encourage discussions on positive mental health. In addition, life-skills education is also imparted.

Chetna aspires to increase the mental and psychological well-being of students and empower them with the ability to help others in need.
Mental health program for destitute children
Under this program, destitute children and orphans from across the country who have witnessed social or political trauma are kept in Fr. Agnel Bal Bhawan foster home, Greater Noida.
This home was created to take care of the basic needs of food, shelter, education, and the dignity of these children.
The caretakers of the children there are called ‘Mothers’. They are responsible for the children’s complete well-being and development. The mothers report to the administrator of the home. Mothers are assisted by administrative staff and professional Social Workers.

Snehi has prepared a mental health program for Bal Bhawan that encompasses:​

Advocacy for Rights and Reduction of Stigma
In an effort to fight stigma and discrimination in India against those suffering from psychosocial and mental disabilities or illnesses. Snehi has been working for the last 26 years to advocate for rights for people with psychosocial and mental disabilities and reduce stigma against anyone having mental disorders. Snehi holds various conferences, meetings, and workshops with opinion makers and media to sensitize them on mental health issues and the rights of people with psychosocial and mental disabilities.
In the area of advocacy, Snehi, working with a range of partners, successfully lobbied for the inclusion of mental health in the Government of India’s XIth Five Year Plan (2007-2012). As a result, for the first time in Indian history, mental health was acknowledged at the national health policy level and a switch was made from institution-based to community-based care and prevention. Due to advocacy by Snehi and its partners, the national budget for mental health multiplied seven-fold. Snehi and its partners are presently working toward ensuring that the plan and policies are properly implemented with major focus to Opinion & Policy Makers.
